My name’s Damian Doyle and I’m a part-time PhD student at the Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Australian National University. On this blog I share short observations related to my research on the Sadrist Line, a social, religious, and political movement Iraq, and on other issues related to Iraqi politics and civil society.

My research draws on social movement theory and I have a particular interest in the ethical and methodological aspects of social movement studies. I also keep an eye on contentious politics elsewhere in Iraq’s region, so I might even write about that from time to time. You can find me on Twitter at @toaf.
